Love eating famous Beetles

Bear and Trout star in the famous TV series 'Plant vs. Wild'. From cliff jumping and ice swimming to eating all kinds of small insects, they are a fearless survivalists ready to take on the wilderness. They told us many fascinating stories like that time Bear ate a red beetle in Costa Rica which gave him a terrible stomach bug (ha!). Trout says insects are not only nutritional but delicious! Kudos to you guys. For us it's still a maybe, with maybe meaning NO way, of course.

How to care for Bear and Trout

Individual plant varieties may vary based on inventory.

Carnivorous plants are easy to care for. Before you start thinking how to feed this hungry duo, it's important that you treat them unlike any other plant. That means a well lit spot with a couple of mists every week and most importantly an always wet soil. That's right— these plants like their feet wetter than most plants as they live in moist boggy environments. A constantly moist soil is therefore a must. These tropical plants are also specifically prone to harmful substances from your tap water, so use filtered water or rain water. Flesh eating plants can go without for a month or two without additional nutrients, so don't go all overkill on the feeding regiment, but we do recommend that you feed them every so often. You can do this by placing them outside for a couple of days a week in summer or by feeding dried mealworms or small flies if they happen to be (no longer) buzzing around! NomNomNom!

Got a gift card for my birthday in the gift box (Fred the air plant was much larger than expected!) and after much though and deliberation given how large their assortment is, chose three plants to order. All three arrived earlier than expected and in fairly good condition, in very well planned packaging that even included a heat pack. They were a bit smushed but they seemed healthy - no pests - and are doing well now. The only problem I had was with just how full the pots were which made them a bit difficult to transport and water especially since they were pretty large given their pot size; definitely have to repot them within the year. Oh and the ceramic pot I ordered as well came and looks very cute! It's a touch small for their nursery pots, they fit inside but with a bit of a lip over the top, but otherwise look great. Definitely would recommend and plan on buying more in the future :D Read less

So stoked on our order! It came in quick, in great conditions and the plants are lovely. They also use cardboard and brown paper, which is great! There was no plastic in the packaging. They even added 2 succulents as a gift in our order. Kelsi, one of their staff member even reached out to me to make sure I didn't make a mistake because not all the pots I ordered fit the plants I ordered (it was for some plants that I already owned, but how sweet?!)
